About This CPhT Prep Site

An independent, free study resource for the CPhT credential — both routes, no affiliation with either certifying body.

CPhT Prep is an independent, free study resource for the Certified Pharmacy Technician credential, covering both routes to it — the PTCB's PTCE and the NHA's ExCPT. It is not published by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcareer Association, and it carries no endorsement from either. What it carries is a bank of practice items and a set of short guides, built to get a candidate drilling in minutes rather than paging through a handbook first.

How the practice material is built

Every item in the bank carries four options and a written explanation, organized under the same weighted domains the exam uses — medication safety and the dispensing process carry the largest share, in line with where the credential puts most of its questions. The method behind the site is quiz-first: read the stem, rule out the options that cannot be right, then read the explanation whether or not the pick was correct, because the reasoning behind a right answer is worth as much as the reasoning behind a wrong one.

  • No accounts and no paywall on the practice questions — open a set and start.
  • Both certification routes covered side by side, not just the more common PTCE.
  • Explanations written for the item in front of you, not lifted from a study forum.
  • A route guide for candidates who have not yet picked PTCB/PTCE or NHA/ExCPT.

One editorial rule: verify with the certifying body

This site does not publish a fee, a passing score, a question count, a time limit, or an exam date as a fixed fact, because both certifying bodies set those numbers themselves and revise them. Where a page states one, it is framed as a range or a starting figure with a pointer to go confirm it.
